I have created a flat plan to show a basic view of what my magazine is going to look like, looking at professionally done magazine front covers influenced my decision of where i was going to place certain things. The main sell line will be in front of the main image and the main image will be in front of the masthead, this will give it dimensions.

On the contents page i think on my actual product i might add in a competition or an advertisement to subscription for my magazine. I think having pictures on one side of the page will make it look slightly neater than having it jumbled up.

On the double page spread i am going to kind of frame my image with the word in the article, the image will be spread across the two pages. And the image in the bottom corner will be the bands new album.

rock genre

This is a few examples of the rock genre, which i want to base my magazine on. Here are some of my favourite and the most classic of rock bands, motley crue, guns n roses, whitesnake etc represent the rock and roll genre really well, so there for my magazine will be really old school rock.

I thought that all of the pictures looked very good and professional.  The double page spread was very good; it stuck to a grate colour scheme and looked very professional. I liked the font on the double page spread.
The masthead is blurry and is partly covered by a thin blue line; this does not look very good. There is no clear colour scheme as there is a mixture of white, black, red, blue and yellow, I do not think this is very effective at all. The main sell line is in a blue box I don’t like this at all as I think the blue does not fit in at all also part of the texts is on top of the blue line. I don’t like the font that is in black as it just looks like it has just been done on word. Overall I don’t even think this looks like a magazine cover, it looks like it has just been done on word. I think that the contents page should have been all black this would have made it more effective and all of the writing should be in white.

I liked the fact that they included a competition. On the double page spread they got the colour scheme just right with lots of red and black and only a little bit of red. I do like how they invite you to like their page on Facebook and to follow them on twitter. I really liked the double page spread I think it looked professional and they got the colour scheme exactly wright here.
I don’t like the colour scheme of this work; I think that there was too much yellow with the red on the front cover and contents page. I don’t think that the picture on the front  page look professional at all because it looks like two of the people are dying to laugh. I also don’t think that they should have had three different coloured fonts. I did not like the contents page as I don’t think it looked professional. I don’t like the yellow strip down one side, it looks stupid. I think the background should have been black not white and again not too much yellow. On the double page spread I think that every title should have been in yellow that way you get a perfect balance between red and yellow

I love the colour scheme; I think it is very affective. The pictures looks grate and I like the use of font, I think this is very effective. I love the font in which her name it written in on the double page spread, this looks vey good.
I don’t like the contents page as I don’t think it looks very professional, it is boring and is quite plain as it does not tell me what each page is about.

I really like the double page spread, I think it looks very professional and i really like the background.
I don’t think the font on the double page spread ( ‘turn the lights out’) fits in well with the picture as that certain font is related to punk lettering the picture is not of a punk so it gives off the wrong impression. Also she is listening to her head phones in the picture and I think this is rude. I think that the front cover is terrible, it does not look professional at all. It doesn’t look like there is a colour scheme in this work, it is pretty random. The contents page is rubbish…. Quite literally as the background has been made to look crumpled, I don’t think this is effective at all I think it just look messy.

It helps me understand what kind of things don’t work in a magazine and what kind of things do and what kind of text should be in it .

How I will use this new knowledge to help me create my own product :

I have annotated the picture whith the type of things you would normally see on a magazine.
Masthead: This is the main title of the magazien, normally found at the top it can either be infront or behined the picture.
Main picture: This will be the largest picture, taking up most of the front cover.
Colour: This can be very affective if used well, most magaziens keep to simple and contrasting colour schemes .
Barcode: Every magazien has a bar codethis can be anywhere on the back or the front of the magazine.
Essential information: This normally includes price and issue date, normally found next to the bar code
Main sell line: This teases the audiance and makes them want to read more it normally has something to do with the main story. it is regarded as the most important issue.
Sub heading: This tell you a little bit more about what is in the magazine.
Sell line: Normally there is more than one sell line, these tell you about either about the main story or about other things in the magazine.
